Endoscopic imaging of laryngeal dysplasia and carcinoma (Dienstag, 13.30 Uhr, Schinkelsaal) |
In the last two decades various endoscopic imaging techniques have been developed to improve the preoperative and intraoperative assessment of laryngeal cancer and its precursor lesions. These techniques differ markedly in their specific applications and goals. Precisely distinguishing among normal mucosa, dysplasia and invasive carcinoma with these endoscopic imaging tools is necessary. Furthermore, the exact identification of tumor margins should be possible. The long-term goal is the development of an “optical biopsy” which allows us an early identification as well as a save resection of precancerous or cancerous lesions of the larynx.
